Online Poker Payment Processors

Moneybookers

Moneybookers is a preferred method for many Canadian and other international players. This e-wallet accepts deposits via EFT, check, or credit/debit card. EFTs take a few days to reach your Moneybookers account, checks take longer (obviously), and credit/debit card payments show up instantly. EFTs and checks are free, but there is a 1.9% fee on credit card transactions.

Strangely, Moneybookers does not make depositing funds into your account a one-step process like all of the other e-wallets. Instead, in addition to initiating the deposit on Moneybooker's site, you also have to initiate it with your bank. This probably adds a level of security, but it seems unnecessary.

Unfortunately, it is not free to send money, but like check deposits, it is only 1% up to €0.50, so it is not punitive at all. Money receipts, on the other hand, are free. Withdrawals also have fees associated with them, €1.80 to €3.50, depending on the withdrawal vehicle. Transfers to and from poker sites are free. The withdrawal limit from Moneybookers on any one transaction is €1,000. However, it can be increased much higher with additional verification.

Because of the fees, Moneybookers will probably not be the first choice for most online poker players, but it is accepted at many poker rooms and because of limited options in certain jurisdictions, it may be the best option or serve as a decent backup.
